Vice Dean for Research
The vice dean for research will lead, support and facilitate research scholarship and resource development within the School of Medicine and work collaboratively with other Wayne State University deans and senior leaders to achieve synergies across the university’s research enterprise. The vice dean for research is a steward and advocate for the Wayne State University and School of Medicine strategic plans and, under the principles and goals adopted in those plans, will be responsible for strategic plan interpretation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting; development and operation of core facilities and enabling technologies, and administrative support services. In collaboration with the dean, s/he will develop research investment strategies, including recruitment and capital investment, and measure and report on return on investment. The position scope of the vice dean will include basic, clinical, population, and translational research.
